
Introduction
The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund [LSETF] Employability Unit tackles youth unemployment by building capacity and skills through vocational training and internship placements, as well as online courses and workshops. The unit, in line with the overall LSETF mandate, focuses on:
- Enabling job creation, through training of youths and internship placement,
- Improving processes, through monitoring and programme design updates,
- Ensuring sustainability, through experimenting cost-effective and far-reaching measures.
The Employability Unit has been monitoring the implementation of training projects reaching 21,000+ youths since 2018, leveraging international partnerships with UNDP, USADF, GIZ, KTI.
Activities
LSETF gather inputs from employers, job seekers, and training institutions through Focus Group Discussions, through desk research, including a Needs Assessment Analysis and through the Lagos State Labour Market Information System https://lagoslmis.ng to inform the design of new programmes.
